Scope of Practice
JOINT REPLACEMENTS

Joint replacement surgery or arthroplasty can be performed for patients with arthritis and destructive conditions involving the joints as well as for some fractures at the hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand. These replacement surgeries have returned patients to normal daily activities and have drastically improved quality of life for these patients. Joint replacement implants are made of stainless steel, titanium, ceramic or silastic depending on the joints affected and patient's needs.
